phillipreeve.jpgPhilip Reeve is an English novelist who writes science fiction, fantasy, and nonfiction books for young adults. He is most well known for writing the Hungry City Chronicles (formerly called the Mortal Engines Quartet) and the Larklight trilogy.

Reeve began writing science fiction at the age of five, and lists Star Wars and J.R.R. Tolkien (The Lord of the Rings) as two of his major influences. He enjoyed creative subjects in school like writing, drawing, and dancing. He studied art in college and afterward illustrated some books in the Horrible History nonfiction series. Reeve’s first novel, Mortal Engines, was published in 2001. Since then, he has written sixteen books. He lives in Dartmoor with his wife and son.

Reeve has won many awards for his books including the 2002 Nestlé Smarties Book Prize for Mortal Engines, the 2006 Guardian Children's Fiction Prize for A Darkling Plain, and the 2008 Carnegie Medal for Here Lies Arthur.
